I'm feeling some overwhelm and I imagine I'm not the only one. So what do we do in this moment?

Some have given up. Looks like many in the Senate have sold out. We know a bunch of folks in the House did a long time ago. Obviously the Trump administration, flunkees, family, + appointees too.

So are we just going to sell out the democracy? Put a for-sale sign out?

I know we are a bunch of capitalists, but that's taking it a bit far.

Here's to hoping we stop it before we're a full-on oligarchy. That is the path of Vladimir Putin's world. Tyranny + oligarchy. Brought to you by the United States Republican Party.

God... we can be so much better. Looks like I'm swearing today.

I didn't haul my ass to Washington after 9/11 to watch these assholes take this country apart. If you want to know why I'm all-in here and now with literally everything I've got trying to turn this damn country around -- that's why.

That's why.

I've given and will continue to give nearly all. Because so many already have.

That's why.

This damn country was not founded on selling out to tyranny. It was founded on FIGHTING it. While even perpetuating oppression during the founding.

Those wealthy pale slave-owning forefathers did us a service and a disservice.

We've got to overcome it -- and do one better.

Democrats have GOT to win the Senate AND the Electoral College. Institutions built specifically to protect wealthy rural landowners.

Shouldn't be a mystery that we would slide toward oligarchy.

We have GOT to blow that legacy up. Turn it around. The damage it's doing today is very real.

We can damn well shift this country. And we can make it better than the founders ever envisioned. Than they could even have imagined.

A country we CAN imagine. A country we CAN build. Can't get there on the path we're on. Going to need a serious pivot. A big shift.

I can't do it alone.

No one else can do it alone, either.

We need all of the teams + all of the ideas + all of the resources. This is the biggest thing this country has probably done since the civil war. We need serious resources. We need people who recognize the danger. It's danger for the rest of our lives.

If we don't fix this this year, we'll pay for it for the rest of our lives... and our progeny will pay for it in theirs.

Time to shake things up.

If I could run around and grab people by the shoulders and shake them I would. Maybe I'll start doing that. I don't know what it's going to take.

Right now we are watching the Senate sell out this damn country and we're not all on the streets. I'm not either, partly because I think there are other paths to make shift happen - at scale.

I have this lovely idea from one of the many Star Wars movies that we're fighting for what we love. Not what we're against.

But if there's a lesson we can learn from Senator Cory Booker's run for president, it's that all of that love shit is *not selling* this year. It's nice. I'm all about that.

But like I said above - we need all the teams. All the people. All the ideas. All the tools. The love. The fight. The rage.

This doesn't go away on its own.

Complacency got us all the way to the 2016 election. How do we get ourselves out? Not with the same stuff.

I don't like to swear on posts. I don't like to be vulnerable. I don't like to cry when I'm writing them.

But I don't want to live like I've been living the last 3 years for the entire rest of my life.

This isn't okay. We cannot let the world's oldest, largest, most powerful democracy sell itself out to a bunch of pale rich old grouchy dudes. This country is so much more than that. So much more.

That's why we fight. Like Representative Schiff said... we have taken for granted that we would be *more* free every year. The last few years we have been *less* free with every passing year.

How does that stop if we don't stop it?

Pick a team. Pick a lane. Find your resonance. Find your cause.

Find your fight. Up your game.

I am.

It's time.
